Twenty years ago, my wife and I decided to do some upgrades to our home in Montgomery. Through a web search, we found Denker & Denker and were introduced to Mark Denker. I could immediately tell that Mark was an expert in his field of custom interior and exterior remodeling just by talking to him, but also by the level of detail in his bids.

Over the years, Mark has done everything from building a custom frame for a trophy fish to custom kitchen cabinets and drawers, flooring, doors, and windows. In every single project, the scope was clearly identified in detail, completed on time, competitively priced, and best of all—everything always fit and worked perfectly.

What sets Mark apart is not just his craftsmanship, but the way he looks out for his clients. During a catastrophic flood at our home, our insurance company initially refused to properly cover the replacement of our travertine flooring. Mark stepped in, met directly with the insurance adjuster, and advocated on our behalf. Because of his knowledge and persistence, he was able to secure an additional $57,000 that was required to properly replace our floors—and he did this without charging me anything for his time.

On another occasion, during a severe freeze, our pipes froze and we were without water. Mark came out, assessed the situation, and instead of taking a guess, he methodically located the problem area. He dug at a location we hadn’t considered—an area we thought was frozen near the surface—and successfully restored water flow. Once again, he did not charge me for coming out and helping resolve the issue. That kind of practical experience and willingness to help is something you don’t see often.

Keep in mind, a person does not achieve a status like “Expert Witness for Construction” unless they truly are an expert—which Mark is.

I have known Mark Denker for a number of years, and through my 30-year history with our company, I have had the opportunity to see the level of work and professionalism he brings to every project.

When we moved into a new office, we noticed that the restroom exhaust fan was not working. After some time, it became clear that something was not right. The fan was not connected to anything and was only sitting on top of the ceiling tile. This created a serious safety concern, as it posed a risk of falling and potentially injuring someone.

When Denker & Denker came out to evaluate the issue, they identified the problem immediately. They removed the improperly installed fan and replaced it with a properly secured unit, fastening it to the ceiling framing as it should have been done originally. They also vented the fan to the exterior of the building, correcting a major deficiency.

In addition, their electrician installed a switch tied to the lighting system to ensure the fan operates appropriately for a busy office environment, helping maintain proper ventilation at all times.

The entire issue was handled quickly, professionally, and correctly the first time. I would not hesitate to hire Denker & Denker again for any future work.

My name is Vernon Fox, and I am the former owner of Lone Star Uniforms. In 1998, Mark Denker completed a build-out for us in a commercial strip center. As our business grew, we purchased a larger tilt-wall building on the Sam Houston Toll way. At that time, we hired Mark to construct custom-sized dressing rooms and remodel our showroom. He also repainted the entire interior of the building.

As our business expanded further, we retained D&D to build a warehouse/garage-type structure for additional storage. Later, we converted that building into offices, renovated the interior, and painted the exterior. Mark also assisted us in evaluating potential property acquisitions near downtown Houston. His careful observations prevented us from purchasing a building that contained asbestos materials.

When we found another building, Mark provided a detailed budget estimate for remodeling and opening a new showroom. He and his crew performed the demolition, constructed new interior walls, and repainted the entire facility. Extensive renovations were required to adapt the previous tenant’s floor layout, and Mark coordinated his tile setter to create a flawless new entrance floor.

We encountered a waterproofing issue due to a zero-lot line. Mark not only repaired the leak but also provided a long-term solution to prevent future water intrusion between the buildings. He also identified roof leaks through water testing, which allowed us to negotiate necessary repairs with the property owner.

Later, when preparing to sell our business, our Beltway location required extensive exterior renovations. Mark provided a detailed analysis and executed the work with his crew. This major project included repainting the tilt-wall building, repairing large expansion joints, and ensuring comprehensive commercial waterproofing. During this period, a commercial sign contractor accidentally damaged our building; Mark repaired it flawlessly with no visible signs of the damage. The entire exterior paint and repair project required his crew to work from a 50-foot articulating lift.

After selling our building, the new owner hired Mark to perform renovations at the downtown Houston location. When we purchased another commercial property near Tomball, Texas, we again retained D&D to repair structural sheathing around the building perimeter, including extensive siding and painting work.

Over the years, as our business needs evolved, we consistently relied on Denker & Denker for build-outs, renovations, and property maintenance. Mark Denker is not only an expert contractor but also a meticulous professional who provides thorough analysis, identifies defects, and produces accurate budgets. He is a perfectionist who pays attention to every detail and communicates clearly with clients, rather than simply sending out a crew.

I consider Mark Denker a master craftsman. His attention to detail is extraordinary, and his commitment to quality is unmatched. Another quality I sincerely appreciate is his honesty. When I receive his bill, I know I am getting exactly what I paid for, and he stands behind everything he does. His work is reliable, precise, and consistently exceeds expectations.

Following Hurricane Harvey, when so many homeowners were overwhelmed and in urgent need of help, Mark came to my home and personally assisted me in tearing out damaged cabinets and drywall—at no charge. During a time when remediation equipment was nearly impossible to find, he also provided me with his own dehumidifiers and fans, again at no cost, simply to help us stabilize the situation.

Beyond that immediate assistance, Mark took the time to guide us step-by-step through the drying and repair process. With contractors in short supply, his advice allowed us to take control of the work ourselves and ultimately save a significant amount of money, while still doing things the right way.

In addition to his help during Harvey, Denker & Denker has completed multiple major improvements to our home. Mark replaced all of our windows with new Pella windows, expanded our living and dining areas, and installed custom doors along with an oversized patio sliding door. He also created custom floor molding by milling and staining it himself to perfectly match our existing wood flooring—something that required a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Mark also removed walls in our living room, kitchen, and formal dining room to create an open-concept layout. This work required significant structural modifications, including the installation of three large beams in the attic to properly support the new open space. His ability to handle both the structural and finish aspects of the project was impressive.

In addition, I have relied on Mark for guidance on completely different types of projects, including determining the best way to build a bridge over a creek on our property. There truly seems to be no limit to his knowledge or experience when it comes to construction and problem-solving.

Mark Denker is a wealth of knowledge, extremely professional, and someone I trust completely. I would highly recommend him for any job, no matter the size or complexity.

Several years ago, Mark Denker removed four windows from the front of our house and replaced them with Pella units.

I always demand expert craftsmanship in construction as I am not only a professional engineer but grew up with a father who was an “old world craftsman”. Mark certainly delivered. I was impressed.

Everything was installed in a neat and workmanlike manner and was plumb and true. Could not be happier with his work as he is one of the best contractors I have ever worked with.

I was speaking with another parishioner at church about needing a patio cover built when Mark Denker’s daughter overheard the conversation. She told me, “My daddy is a carpenter, and he’s standing right over there.” Shortly afterward, Mark came over and spoke with my husband and me about the project.

We explained that we wanted a freestanding patio cover that would match the existing brick and roofing of our home. I specifically requested a framed ceiling fan centered in the structure, electrical outlets installed within the brick columns, exterior lighting, and the ability to operate the lights from inside the house.

Mark designed and constructed exactly what we envisioned. He installed a concrete slab that was substantially stronger than what many people would typically use for this type of structure. I also told him I did not want the unattractive angled bracing, commonly referred to as gussets, and instead wanted clean lines with fully bricked columns. Because of the strong winds we frequently experience in Plantersville, Texas — where normal wind gusts can average 15–25 mph and often much higher — Mark used heavy structural lumber and built the patio cover with durability and stability in mind.

Every detail was completed with care. He painted everything to perfectly match the existing home, and the finished project is absolutely beautiful. The time, craftsmanship, and attention to detail were outstanding. He gave us everything we asked for and more.

Since completing the patio cover, we have continued to call Mark for additional projects around our home. He repaired siding where the original builder had left exposed sheathing and matched both the siding and paint perfectly. He also installed a new kitchen light fixture that gave the room a much more modern appearance.

I would also like to emphasize that Mark is a perfectionist. He truly makes an extra effort to focus on every detail so that your project is as close to perfect as possible. I absolutely love my patio cover, and everyone who sees it stops for a moment and says, “WOW, this is just beautiful.”

I would highly recommend Mark Denker for any type of construction project, whether it involves new construction, additions, repairs, or remodeling work. His attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, and commitment to doing the job correctly are what continue to bring us back for future projects.

I am pleased to provide this letter of recommendation for Denker & Denker based on our experience working together from approximately 2015 through 2019 on multiple commercial properties managed by Terra Firma Management.

During that time, Denker & Denker provided specialized consulting, investigative, and quality assurance services involving roofing systems, waterproofing, building envelope failures, structural coordination, and leak remediation. Their firm consistently demonstrated a high level of technical expertise and professionalism while assisting with several challenging building conditions and ongoing water intrusion issues.

Their work included detailed leak investigations, destructive testing, coordination with roofing manufacturers and contractors, development of waterproofing specifications, QA inspections, and oversight of corrective repairs involving roofing systems, window assemblies, masonry interfaces, and structural steel components. They were also instrumental during a warehouse office buildout project where maintaining the integrity of the existing roof warranty and resolving complex waterproofing concerns were critical to the success of the project.

One of the areas where Denker & Denker provided exceptional value was in identifying recurring water intrusion causes and coordinating practical corrective solutions while maintaining manufacturer warranty compliance. Their documentation efforts, field investigations, and coordination with contractors and manufacturers helped ownership clearly understand both the source of deficiencies and the corrective measures necessary to resolve them.

Throughout our working relationship, Denker & Denker approached projects methodically, professionally, and with strong attention to detail. Their technical knowledge of building envelope systems and their ability to navigate difficult repair and warranty situations proved to be highly beneficial. Dear Mark,

I wanted to take the time to express my sincere appreciation to you for your generosity and dedication to our church community. I honestly could not tell you the last time the interior of the church had been painted. However, in my more than 17 years here at Sacred Heart, I cannot recall any parishioner ever volunteering to undertake such a large project.

When you first approached me about repainting the church interior, it truly warmed my heart. The church was certainly in need of refreshing, although I must admit my first thought was, “I wonder if he realizes what he is volunteering for.” With our tight schedule of daily Masses, Spanish Masses, and church events, I initially thought accomplishing this project would be like juggling a circus.

Your assurance that you and your crew would work around the church’s schedule for all services and events immediately put my mind at ease. It also reminded me that the Lord truly works in mysterious ways, particularly when your friend arrived to work alongside your crew, even though he was neither a parishioner nor being compensated for his time.  My mind was also eased to know it would be completed before the upcoming spring wedding season.

Your donation of both labor and materials should serve as an example to others of what true ministry and stewardship look like. I talk about stewardship in my homilies; however, what we really need is more of this type of stewardship, a ministry that most never think about. I know your children attend school here, and I sincerely hope they recognize what a wonderful example they have in a father who gives back so generously to his church, school, and community.

The parishioners continually complimented not only the quality of the work performed, but also the cleanliness and professionalism maintained throughout the entire project. We are truly blessed to have you as a parishioner who is always willing to volunteer whenever help is needed. I also know our community deeply appreciates your continued hard work and dedication each year in helping organize and prepare for set up and take down of our annual Oktoberfest celebration.

Thank you again for the tremendous effort and sacrifice required to complete this project prior to the Easter services. Your generosity, faith, and commitment to our parish community are sincerely appreciated.

It is rare to have such talented longtime parishioners within our church community who are willing to donate both their time and materials in service to others. Our Mother’s Day Out program simply could not provide all of the amenities that many larger daycare facilities are able to offer, which made your generosity even more meaningful to us.

We were truly amazed when you volunteered to furnish all of the materials and construct a custom playground using treated lumber, while thoughtfully tying the new structure seamlessly into the existing building. The roof integration gives the entire project a natural “built-in” appearance, as though it had always been part of the original design of the facility.

The addition of the climbing gym was an exceptional enhancement, and it has been wonderful to see how much the children and staff enjoy the covered outdoor area. The shaded roof structure provides comfort and protection from the Texas heat, allowing the children to play more comfortably while helping the staff avoid constant concerns about excessive sun exposure and sunburn.

Your craftsmanship, imagination, and overall vision for the project far exceeded anything the program director had originally envisioned. The care and attention to detail you invested into this ministry project are clearly evident to everyone who sees and uses it.

We are truly blessed to have parishioners like you who generously put their faith into action through ministries that directly benefit our church families and children.  I am also grateful that you volunteer your time on the church counsel for hiring new employees.  Your children are truly blessed to have a father that gives back to the community and to the Sacred Heart School.
